Remember, everyone’s experience with multiple sclerosis (MS) is different. Your healthcare provider is, and always should be, your primary source of information.

Holly M.: One of the most difficult topics I might want to talk about with my friends would be my continuing bowel issue.

Sheri P.: It's really important to understand your body and to keep track of those things, and have these discussions with your doctor, even when they're extremely uncomfortable.

Holly M.: We really need to be honest with ourselves. Everybody poops. All right? I mean, we do, right?

I have been challenged by constipation, so I eat about five dried plums. They don't call them prunes anymore. They're dried plums.

And I eat those, and then I have coffee in the morning. Generally, I'll be able to use the bathroom and be on my way.

Sheri P.: Be confident in knowing your body and what you're going through. For me, I have urinary frequency issues. So, I will wake up like five, six times at night. So, then it's keeping track, learning to keep a log of how often you're going to the bathroom. It can be very embarrassing. But don't be embarrassed.

Holly M.: Everybody has to use the bathroom, so talking about it is better.
